BBC Pulls All Jimmy Savile Programmes In Wake of Child Abuse Allegations

The BBC has announced that all programmes featuring the late Sir Jimmy Savile are to be pulled from the schedules in the wake of recent allegations of sexual abuse by the broadcaster.

Two classic editions of Top of the Pops hosted by Savile are among those to be axed, along with a repeat of the documentary The Story of Light Entertainment.

The BBC confirmed that all archive Top of the Pops episodes are “postponed? over the next two Thursdays, as they feature Savile as host.

Jimmy Savile has been accused of several cases of indecent assault by a number of women, many of whom were underage at the time of the alleged incidents.

The ITV documentary Exposure: The Secret Life of Jimmy Savile, which sparked allegations about the late DJ’s past actions, was watched by 1.72 million people when it aired on Wednesday.

A plaque at the home of the late star has been vandalised with the words “paedophile? and “rapist? and a statue of Savile has been removed from a Glasgow leisure centre amid child abuse allegations.
