BBC To Pay Kylie £1m For The Voice
“Great. Kylie gets another million quid, we get the sack,” one BBC worker told The Sun while others raised concerns that so much of licence fee payer’s cash was going on one show.
Kylie – who had originally demanded £2.5 million to appear on the show – looks set to join Jessie J on the panel for The Voice, a singing contest inspired by an American show of the same name in which participants are judged solely on their voices, by means of a blind audition.
The BBC have refused to confirm the exact figure offered to Kylie, but maintain that they are getting a good deal for the star. “The figure is close to a million, but we won’t break the bank for anyone,” said a spokesperson. Yet the package is thought to be twice that paid to Strictly legend, Bruce Forsyth.
Kylie’s inclusion will almost certainly mean that rapper Will.i.am won’t be appearing on the show, as the Beeb is unable to afford both him and the former Neighbours star. Tom Jones is also thought to be close to signing up.
