The Glee Report – Spoilers, Updates And Images!
It has been quite a week for Gleeks everywhere as not only was Glee nominated for several Emmys but Jane Lynch managed to knock everyone out of the park by winning her category.
Jane was named Best Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series, beating out Julie Bowen (Modern Family), Jane Krakowski (30 Rock), Holland Taylor (Two and a Half Men), Sofía Vergara (Modern Family) and Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live). Nice work, Jane.
Speaking of the Emmys, if you’re an internet savvy Gleek, then you probably saw the opening number to the ceremony which consisted of host Jimmy Fallon gathering stars to perform a Glee-style routine. Tina Fey, Joel McHale, Jon Hamm and Jorge Garcia joined in the festivities to sing Bruce Springsteen’s Born To Run. It went a little something like this:
The cast of Glee attended the awards in the hopes of winning and while they were working it on the red carpet they dished on some upcoming storylines. Michael Ausiello pinned down Lea Michele to ask about the state of Rachel and Finn’s relationship in the second season.
Oh yes, there will be SPOILERS AHEAD!
“They’re very much in love right now and I think they’re going to be together for a while.” Yay! After season one’s finale saw Finn declare his love for everyone’s favourite diva, we’re glad they’re in it for the long run. For now, at least. Cory Monteith revealed that Finn’s still dealing with his premature ‘arrival’ problem this season so it might be a while before we some rumpy pumpy action between the two.
Lea also revealed that she’s doing another Barbara Streisand song in episode three but remained tight-lipped as to what it is. But is Lea emulating the diva lifestyle a little too closely? Rumours of her bitchy attitude and rudeness towards fans are getting more prevalent around the net these days. Careful, Lea.
Over at E! Online, Kevin McHale commented on the break-up between Tina and Artie. “Tina broke up with him, so he goes above and beyond to try to get her back, which is fun. We’re doing stuff that I never thought possible with my character.” Who’s she leaving Artie for, you ask? It’s Mike Chang, also known to Sue Sylvester as ‘Other Asian’.
Meanwhile, Heather Morris dished on the episode she shares with Britney Spears, ‘Britney/Brittany’.
“We want to do Britney for a glee club performance and Will Schuester doesn’t allow it. He doesn’t agree with us. My character’s arc in the episode, in a way, is Britney Spears!”
In our opinion it’s mo’ Brittany, mo’ better.
Heather also added that, “You figure out my character’s last name!” Place your bets! We know she’s of Dutch descent but how Dutch is Brittany?
Over at TV Guide.com, Jenna Ushkowitz described the Tina/Artie storyline from her point of view. “Artie didn’t give her what she wanted, so there’s a love triangle. She’s going to make Artie work for it.” You tell ‘em, girl.
While little is known about the second season as a whole, it was recently revealed that one entry would be a Rocky Horror Picture Show themed episode! We can’t wait to see who will be donning the platform shoes and red corset of Dr. Frank-N-Furter (our money’s on Mr. Schuester) but the cast apparently don’t have a clue who’s playing which role.
Lea said, “I’m so excited to do it. If Rachel ends up doing the Susan Sarandon role that would be really cool!”
Cory’s aiming for the manly but vulnerable Brad Majors role. “I might be in some Brad briefs, let’s put it that way. But I don’t know for sure.” Jane Lynch is aiming for a bit part, “I would love to be the Narrator,” while Jenna Ushkowitz wants to vamp it up, “There’s Magenta. She could be fun.”
But Chris Colfer has his heart set on playing one role in particular. “I pray that I’m Riff Raff because he’s the best one. He sings ‘Time Warp.’ From the time we shot the pilot I’ve been stressing to Ryan Murphy how much I want to sing ‘Time Warp.’”
Thought we were done! Ha, wrong! It’s also been revealed that characters Rachel, Finn and Mercedes will appear in an upcoming episode of The Simpsons. Lea, Cory and Amber Riley will be doing their own voices in an episode called Elementary School Musical which will see Lisa Simpson heading off to performing arts camp and getting wrapped up in the showbiz lifestyle. Flight of the Conchords’ Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie will also star as themselves as camp counsellors. Take a look at the Simpsonised versions of Lea, Cory and Amber.
