Most of us would be thrilled at the chance to travel the world and see classical civilisations, mighty rainforests and a variety of different cultures.

However, in Karl Pilkington’s case, he would be happy to stay at home but is being forced to go on a round the world trip by Ricky Gervais, most likely for Ricky’s own personal amusement.

In a new series on Sky1, Karl will be jetting around the world to visit all the Seven Wonders of the world: the Great Wall of China, Christ the Redeemer in Brazil, Petra in Jordan, Machu Picchu in Peru, Chichen Itza in Mexico, the Taj Mahal in India and the Great Pyramids of Egypt.

Karl told Sky1 that, “I can’t wait to get started. Not ‘cos I’m excited but ‘cos the sooner we start the sooner it will be over. The fact the nurse gave me an injection that protects me from dirty chimps put a dampener on the whole thing. I don’t think Ross Kemp has to have that injection.?

On The Ricky Gervais Show, Karl is often the butt of Ricky and Stephen Merchant’s jokes and rightly so because he is, for lack of a better word, an idiot. He may be a strange little man but he’s completely loveable and we can’t wait for this show to start.

An Idiot Abroad begins on 5th September on Sky1. Check out the trailer and let us know what you think – drop a comment down below.

Paul says:

When I spotted Karls face on TV I had to do a double take, my thoughts were running faster than the trailer, thinking and hoping there was going to be a program on TV with Karl starring. So when the trailer ended I was obviously delighted.

I was introduced to Karl’s personality by a friend who recommended I get the podcasts. They are the funniest pieces of media I have ever had the pleasure of listening to.

Superb Sky, Ricky, Stephen and of course Karl himself for the madness that is about to meet our TV’s.

Just gonna put a date out when its gonna be screened, cant find a hint anywhere…. Nothing on the Sky EPG for me to set reminders!
