Professional curmudgeon and Cod-faced TV critic Charlie Brooker is set to host a new BBC comedy show.

How TV Ruined Your Life will begin its run during BBC Two’s Autumn Winter season and will see Brooker explore the gap in reality between television and films and ‘real-life’.

The show will follow a similar format to his successful BBC Four Screenwipe and Newswipe vehicles and will feature the presenter’s usual cynical outlook as he compares the ideals presented by television and movies to the reality of modern life.

Whilst the show is likely to feature contributions from the presenter’s usual collaborators, Brooker had previously appealed to his sizable Twitter following to take part in a TV concept being developed by him. Although it is unclear if the appeal was linked to the new show, fans were asked to be interviewed by Brooker in his “usual abrasive style” about their personal life experiences.

The new series marks a return to the BBC following a stint fronting television-based panel show You Have Been Watching on Channel 4.
