E4 will launch a new sitcom next that has been labelled as a female version of The Inbetweeners.

The show will be called Sex And The Chippy and will focus on a group of women in their early thirties who congregate at a chip shop in Liverpool and dish the dirt on their nights out.

We’ll be honest, the title’s not the best and it doesn’t sound anything like The Inbetweeners but we’ll reserve judgement until we see it.

Shane Allen, Channel 4’s head of comedy, describes the show as, “glossy, raucous, upbeat and entertaining”.

He went on to say that, “We’re delighted with the script. It’s bursting with great banter and some truly jaw-dropping set pieces. It’s so good to be getting behind something female, funny and young for E4 to complement The Inbetweeners.”

The pilot episode will begin shooting this September and will be on our screens next year.
