Breakfast telly is about to get a huge shake up as ITV bosses are all in favour of firing it’s entire lineup of presenters in order to bring in fresh faces.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, everyone at GMTV is facing the chop including Emma Crosby, reporter Richard Arnold, weather girl Claire Nasir as well as Kate Garraway and Andrew Castle.

ITV boss Peter Fincham, daytime controller Alison Sharman and new editor Ian Rumsey are all backing the cull but have yet to name the new stars of GMTV.

Many have avoided the inevitable by jumping ship first as Ben Shephard did earlier this year but by the time Summer is well and truly here we should have a bunch of new faces on the GMTV sofa. Well, I say new but Adrian Chiles will be joining the team after being replaced on the One Show by Chris Evans.

Chiles will be the main host of the new look GMTV which, under new ITV management, will also get a name change. He’ll also be paired with an as yet unamed female co-host, she’ll most likely be a younger lady as that seems to be the magical TV formula. There’s a good chance that it could be LA correspondent Helen Fosperoon the couch with Chiles as she’s the only one surviving the cut.

GMTV has a troubled history with rumours of bitchiness and sniping co-stars but that’s what happens when you wake people up at the butt-crack of dawn and tell them to smile. It’s tough environment has also earned the show the nickname of ‘Grumpy, Moody, Tired and Vicious’ – and that’s just Andrew Castle.
