Bogged down by its utter lack of inspiration, ITV rom-com drama Married, Single, Other has been decommissioned after a limp and uneventful first season.

The show – which starred Miranda Raison and Ralf Little – only managed to attract 4.3 million viewers during its six-part run.

An ITV spokesman told uninterested journalists: “ITV won’t be commissioning a second series of Married, Single, Other.

“This has been a tough decision as it brought warmth and wit to our drama slate. The cast, the writing and the production were all superb.

“However, the overall audience fell short of what we need to deliver at 9pm and, regretfully, we’ve had to make space for new titles.”

ITV is beginning to make the new coalition government look stable following a raft of shows were axed and cast members thrown out. Bosses at ITV are starting to look desperate and out of touch if Married, Single, Other was ever thought capable of attracting viewers in their hordes. Better luck next time.
