The Sarah Silverman Program Axed

What’s that? You haven’t heard of the Sarah Silverman Program? Well you’ve been missing out my friend.

Controversial US comedian Silverman has had a good three season run of her dirty, inappropriate show but Comedy Central have finally pulled the plug on the shows finances and shut it down according to Deadling Hollywood. The company knocked down the show’s budget down by 20% then pushed the time slot in an effort to phase it out of the schedule.

The show followed Sarah and her real life sister Laura as they had wacky often politically incorrect adventures including Sarah mistakenly thinking she had AIDS, appearing in blackface and becoming engaged to her dog. As weird as it sounds, it’s actually pretty amazing and the show garnered Silverman an Emmy nomination last year for her performance.

Despite being a great US stand up, her first UK stand up gig was pretty much a disaster, so will this cancellation knock out her chances of being accepted by British audiences? Possibly, but Silverman’s already got other projects going on – she has a bestselling book out now called ‘The Bedwetter’ and she just snagged a role in Sarah Polley’s Take This Waltz.
