Its all over for another year! Last night Dhruv Baker was crowned Masterchef champion after Chris Martin made a mess of his meat.

The Mexican born 34 year-old was hailed as “one of the most amazing talents ever to have appeared on the show” by judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace, after beating off competition from Tim Kennaird and Alex Rushmer.

Baker had prepared a three-course meal that included ginger-poached lobster tail and venison.

“He has the palate of an angel,” said Wallace, before Torode added: “He has a talent very few people will ever have – and that is to cook the most amazing fusion food I’ve ever tasted.”

Baker gave up a position as a director of a media firm to concentrate on the show and now hopes to become a full-time chef and open his own restaurant.

“It’s mind-blowing! I hope winning will allow me to pursue my dreams of a career in food,” he said. “I’m on the path to where I want to go, I can’t wait to get back in the kitchen.”
