Susan Boyle’s 49th year has got off to a rather good start as thousands of fans threw her a surprise birthday party.

The singer who is currently on tour in Tokyo celebrated with a candle-lit cake and some expensive gifts.

She received a £6,000 diamond bracelet from Simon Cowell (probably out of the pocket change he had lying around after the sucess of her album) and is due to receive the first royalties cheque from her album I Dreamed A Dream which has sold more than 8.5 million copies – something that has an estimated value of £4million. Not a bad start to the year at all.

She’s set to play infront of 1000 people today when she plays the Budokan arena with the Yomiuri Nippon Orchestra.

But could she return to the stage in Britain later this year with Rage Against The Machine? Now that would be worth seeing.

Happy Birthday from us all at OTB Susan.

Snoop Dog & Susan Boyle (odd pair, but I quite like both) are set to go into the recording studio together this year as well. I think it’s terrific that she is so willing to step outside her comfort zone and try new things. And thank goodness or we wouldn’t have her great talent to share.

A little FYI, she sang in front of 10,000 people, brilliantly, of course.
She sang Wings To Fly for the first time.
