Zombie TV Show ‘Walking Dead’ Gets Six Episode Start
After the success of Charlie Brooker’s Dead Set, we happily welcome any and all zombie TV shows, especially ones helmed by Shawshank Redemption director Frank Darabont.
Frank’s behind the new show The Walking Dead which has just been picked up for six episodes by US cable channel AMC, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This is fantastic news, especially since the show skipped the pilot making process which usually determines whether or not more episodes are ordered.
Plus, if the show’s already been greenlit for six episodes then there must be a lot of faith behind the project, which means that if proven successful, it’s likely to get a UK release too.
The show takes place in the aftermath of some kind of disaster which has lead to a zompocolypse. Our hero, police officer Rick Grimes, must lead his family to safety through hordes of brain eating zombies.
Producers are currently eye-balling Eli Stone star Johnny Lee Miller for the role of Rick while Jon Bernthal, soon to appear in The Ghost, has officially been cast as Rick’s partner and friend Shane.
Shooting in Atlanta will begin in June will an October air date.
