Bet you can’t guess what Coronation Street was originally called. Anyone?

It was called Florizel Street which will also be the title of the new BBC4 drama about the beginnings of the ITV soap opera.

According to reports in The Stage, it will tell the story of how the soap was created and the man who made it, Tony Warren.

Set in the 60s, we’ll follow Warren as he prepares to bring the characters we know and love to the big screen despite opposition from his bosses.

The show will be a part of BBC4’s Great Northern Season along with The Golden Age Of Civic Architecture, The Road To Wigan Pie Shop and The Story Of Rugby League.
