BOYZONE – A TRIBUTE TO STEPHEN GATELY: Sunday 21st March, ITV1, 8.30pm ALERT ME

It’s always heartbreaking to lose someone so suddenly, but at least the guys from Boyzone had each other to lean on after their friend, bandmate and brother Stephen Gately died last year.

Despite what Jan ‘lesbian-in-denial’ Moir may have thought, Stephen’s death was totally unexpected. He was a fit and healthy youngish man when he suffered a pulmonary oedema in his flat in Majorca.

After a long grieving process, Ronan, Keith, Mikey and Shane have put together a special show to celebrate the music they made with Stephen, and there are also plenty of appearances from his other friends, family and pals from his days in the West End. Making appearances via video are Sharon Osbourne, Paul O’ Grady, Robbie Williams, Louis Walsh and Christopher Biggins all with fond memories of Stephen to share.

The lads perform some of their greatest hits including Love Me For A Reason, Words and When The Going Gets Tough with a little help from Nadine Coyle, Mika and a fantastic performance with Westlife.

This really is a touching, personal tribute to Stephen and you can guarantee there’ll be a lump in your throat by the end of the show.
