Comedy series Miranda is leading the field in the upcoming Royal Television Awards.

The show is nominated for Best Comedy Performance for its lead Miranda Hart, Best Comedy Writing and Best Scripted Comedy.

Coronation Street missed out on a nomination with Eastenders, The Bill and Casualty fighting it out in the Continuing Drama category.

The set-back comes after Corrie took best soap prize at the National Television Awards in January – beating Eastenders for the first time since 2004.

Winners will be announced at a lavish ceremony presented by Rob Brydon on March 16.
