Emmerdale To ‘Sex Up’ For Ratings War
Emmerdale bosses today announced plans to ‘sex up’ the soap with a host of new characters to stop it losing viewers to EastEnders and the inexplicably popular Coronation Street.
According to The Sun there will also be a massive rise in the amount of “romp-filled storylines” (whatever the hell they are).
Just Good Friends star Jan Francis will be heading to Yorkshire as a love interest for Rodney Blackstock and former popstar Suzanne Shaw (Hear’Say) will also be joining the cast.
Actor Jeff Hordley – bad boy Cain Dingle in the soap – will be joined by real-life wife Zoe Henry, who returns as vet Rhona Goskirk after nine years away and Cutting It actor Jason Merrells will play a business partner and lover of murderess Natasha Wylde.
Emmerdale got just 8 milliopn viewers on Tuesday night while EastEnders pulled in 11 million and Corrie got 12 million the previou evening.
“EastEnders and Coronation Street have been stealing the show and we’ve had enough,” a show insider told The Sun.
“They’re both in their anniversary years. But it does not mean we can’t play them at their own game. Sex will be our secret weapon.”
