Paxman Apologises After Saying F**k On Live TV
Scourge of politicians and pondering university boffins alike (“I’ll have to hurry you”), Jeremy Paxman was forced to apologise to his loyal Newsnight viewers after using an F-word live on air.
Paxman was quoting from journalist Andrew Rawnsley’s new book about Gordon Brown when he let slip the expletive, and was told by his boss to apologise.
“Apparently I’m told by our editor I have to apologise for quoting what you said the Prime Minister said. So honour satisfied now,” he told Rawnsley.
The BBC said just one (apparently very bored) viewer complained about the late night broadcast. But a BBC spokesperson played down the incident in a later statement.
“During a post-watershed interview with Andrew Rawnsley Jeremy read a direct quote from his book which contained an expletive. He apologised to anyone that may have found it offensive.”
