Trevoreve210x300Look, it’s not that we don’t love Trevor Eve, but we were more than a little surprised by the news that he’s the highest paid actor on UK telly.

The star is reported to be getting £1 million per episode of hit show Waking The Dead. Really, not David Tennant? He saved the universe and everything!

The Sun reports that Eve is raking in the big bucks with an insider commenting on the revelation, saying, ‘The BBC had wanted to keep it a secret so licence fee payers don’t complain.’

It’s nice work if you can get it but after the recent hoo-ha over Jonathan Ross’ giant paycheck, we can understand why this might irk a few people. One such person might be Steve McFadden, who reportedly earns £360,000 a year despite working many more hours than some of the higher earners.

Apparently the Beeb are under pressure to cut costs of production which will mean an end to fat paychecks for big stars. One BBC spokesperson said that, “The BBC is committed to reducing the fees it pays its artists, and BBC drama is no exception.”

We’ll believe it when we see Trevor Eve shopping at Iceland’s.

Jez Sands says:

Is it me or has old Trev got the biggest forehead in Hollywood?
