Gugu Mbatha-Raw 210x300Uber televisual genius, JJ Abrams, has found his newest leading lady for his upcoming show Undercovers.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw may be familiar to UK audiences from her stints in Bonekickers, Spooks and as Tish Jones in Doctor Who. We’re happy for her because Abrams’ leading ladies usually go on to have big careers.

We’re not surprised that Abrams is returning to espionage based drama after he made his name internationally known with female spy hit, Alias. We’re also betting that show won’t be ‘the new Lost‘ but will be much more in the vein of Alias, with Abrams bringing the big budget to the small screen but without confusing us with polar bears and smoke monsters.

While there’s not a lot of info about his latest project (the producer is well known for his secrecy), TheHollywoodReporter describes the new show as, ‘”Undercovers,” which Abrams co-wrote with Josh Reims, revolves around a domesticated husband (Boris Kodjoe) and wife (Mbatha-Raw) who are re-activated as CIA agents after years of retirement.’

That sounds great but we’d like to personally ask Abrams for a favour right now: is there any chance you could take 5 minutes just to sort out Heroes for us?
