SimontongueSimon Cowell has had the effrontery to say that Joe McElderry is the victim of a “hate mob.

The music mogul continued his tirade against the Facebook group which is urging fans to buy Rage Against The Machine’s anthem Killing In The Name instead of the X Factor winner’s cover of Miley Cyrus’s The Climb.

“All these musical snobs have ganged up against Joe.

“If you take me out of the equation, you have a teenager with his first single being attacked by a huge hate mob on Facebook.”

He added: “It almost feels like a little kid being bullied. It feels like a spiteful campaign aimed at an 18-year-old who won a talent competition.

“It’s David versus Goliath and it’s not fair on Joe. It’s getting out of hand.”

It’s not a hate mob, it’s several hundred thousand people exercising their choice as consumers. Next time I don’t buy your brand of mince pies are you going to accuse me of forming a hate mob? Really, calling half the record buying public “music snobsâ€? is frankly ridiculous.

And don’t give me that crap about bullying, Simon Cowell’s made a career out of being venomously nasty to people.

Time for Simon to hitch up his trousers and paddle back to his palace of gold methinks…

blah says:

Someone phone a waaaambulance ! Since when did winning a talent show give you the right to be number 1 ? It’s as if Simon has forgotten that getting to number 1 is done by selling the most records.

I’m glad that in the uk there’s still this little thing called Personal Choice, which a large number of people are making use of this week.

Nothing against Joe, or any of the other past / future clones to come out of the Simon Stable, but given a choice between a Karaoke singer or a real band I know which I’d choose to listen to, and spend my money on.

Liz says:

We’ve got nothing against Joe, he’s probably a lovely lad. Its Cowell thinking he owns the charts we have a problem with. Numpty.

minorthreat says:

it’s not HIS single, it’s Miley Cyrus.

Simon is the one ruining his career before it’s started.
