The Xtra Factor: Best and Worst 2009 Review
THE XTRA FACTOR – BEST AND WORST 2009: Monday 14th December, ITV2, 9pm ALERT ME
Sure Geordie Joe can sing, but can he match the jaw-droppingly bad Lithuanian hopefuls who assaulted our ears at the start of the series for sheer entertainment?
Much as we love watching the talented contestants (and Jedward) rise to the top, we all know that one of the best parts of the X Factor are the terrible auditions that make you wish you were deaf – and don’t the channel bosses know it.
This is the first of five episodes that ITV will be airing this week to show us the hilariously deluded, the worryingly wacky and the downright rubbish hopefuls from this years competition.
There may be a time when X Factor reaches saturation point – but it won’t be with these programmes.
The howling Dreamgirls – who travelled across Europe to perform – top the bill, but who could forget Alan Walton with his detailed guide to the Birmingham suburbs and that woman with the dog that wouldn’t sing? Certainly not us.
One of the highlights comes when the previously mentioned Eastern Europeans complete the obligatory post-audition interview where they tell everyone that they will make it anyway.
Hows that going by the way?
In the breaks between the ear-torturers, its interesting to see the first appearances of those who eventually did make the cut. Danyl and Jamie being among those who sounded better at the first attempt than they did for the rest of the competition.
