susan_boyle300I DREAMED A DREAM – THE SUSAN BOYLE STORY: Sunday 13th December, ITV1, 9.30pm ALERT ME

Fans of Bo’ Selecta will know that Craig David nearly killed himself trying to “break America”, yet Scotland’s answer to Ugly Betty managed it in less than six months.

Despite coming second in this year’s Britain’s Got Talent, Susan Boyle has shot to fame stateside – with a little bit of help of YouTube.

Tonight’s I Dreamed A Dream is a one-hour special from ITV which shows fans previously unseen footage of 2009’s everywoman, including songs that have never been performed in front of a camera and footage shot during the BGT tour that followed the show finale.

Unfortunately that infamous incident in the hotel lobby has been left out though – a real opportunity missed.

For X Factor fans, this will probably be the perfect way to console themselves after learning that a laddish Olly/boring Joe/mental Stacey (delete as appropriate) has won the public vote and reality-talent TV has ended until next spring.

The cash-in also includes a very special duet that not even SuBo herself knew of until the camera started rolling and she found herself sharing a microphone with her idol Elaine Page.

“I never thought I would see myself standing on the same stage with such an icon from West End theatre, let alone singing with her as an equal,? she said to a nervous bystander.

In case you hadn’t realised, the album is in the shops now. Nudge nudge…

LOL says:

You sound bitter! Did Susan Boyle run over your dog or something? Or maybe her offense was to be more talented than whatever hacks you would have preferred to have international success.

Micheal Atkins says:

FYI – Susan Boyle broke America overnight! We just had to wait 7 months for her cd to release. She’s been adored here from the first moment we saw her and heard her sing. She’s also a foxy lady – no Ugly Betty in Susan at all.
