sam-foxThe new series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! started with a bang last night as former page 3 girl Sam Fox and ‘celebrity’ chef Gino D’Acampo were plunged straight into the first bushtucker trial.

The stars had to hold water spiders in their mouths for 30 seconds before plunging their faces into an urn of beach worms and yabbies (Australian crayfish).

Fox proved to be the bravest in the spider task and after she completed the challenge Gino whined: “Why couldn’t I have gone first? Now I look weak.”

The pair eventually won nine stars for their campmates, which means that they might get a few beds and some food for their first night and although everyone seemed to be getting along swimmingly last night, the harmony seems set to be shattered by Jordan’s arrival later today.

“I’ll clash with someone in the jungle”, she told reporters over the weekend. “I’m trouble all over.”

ITV bosses will be rubbing their hands.

For those mere mortals who were forced to actually turn up to their new job on the first day, life got pretty messy pretty quickly.

a&dThe two trialist’s ordeal began just minutes after the contestants met on a yacht as they were forced to swim to the nearby island where they spent the first night before completing the task.

When the other contestants arrived they seemed happy despite the fact that most of them seemed pretty unprepared for life in the wild.

“I did go camping one night with my son in my garden and that was horrendous,” said snooker player Jimmy White.

“I’ve never been more frightened in my life,” said ballroom dancer Camilla Dallerup.

There was even a hint of romance last night between Mis-Teeq star Sabrina Washington and former Hollyoaks actor Stuart Manning, and the singer confessed she fancied Stuart and was looking for love on the show.

“Stuart has been following Sabrina around like a love-sick puppy and she has been lapping up the attention and flirting outrageously,” said an ITV source.

With only three weeks in the jungle, they better get moving.

Peter Andre has already ditched his job as a This Morning showbiz reporter over his ex-wife’s trip to the jungle – we don’t blame him…
