X Factor: Simon Switches To Queen For Weekend
After becoming more unpopular on the OTB message boards than Gary Glitter, we can reveal that Simon Cowell may have aggravated X Factor fans even further with his slippery tactics.
As show bosses confirm that this Saturday’s show will now be Queen-themed rather than the planned dance night – accusations that Simon instigated the move to help his own performers was rife.
“This change of plan has come as no surprise to many of us as this benefits Simon’s acts,” said one show insider.
“Jamie will be brilliant singing a Queen song, as will Danyl, but it might prove difficult for Stacey Solomon or Lloyd Daniels – I’m sure the twins will have no problem with it,” they added.
Cowell is said to have claimed that the switch was brought about to bring out “big performances” form the contestants as producers try to attract a larger audience than the 16.6 million that watched Lucie’s acrimonious exit on Sunday night.
“Simon made the decision late on Sunday night to go with something more theatrical,” said another show source.
“He loves Queen and knows that the wannabes will recognize at least one of their hit songs, he wants bigger entrances and bigger performances from all of them. Simon also thinks that by giving all the contestants songs from the same artist it will be easier to work out who is the best.”
We don’t mind about that so much – as long as he can tell which is the worst…
