glitterIf the death penalty was re-introduced to this country, as Thom Yorke might say – who would be first against the wall?

Well if Channel 4 have anything to do with it – Gary Glitter.

The Execution of Gary Glitter
, which will be aired on Monday 9th November, is set in a Britain where the death penalty has been reintroduced and convicted paedophile Glitter is the first to be tried.

Writer and director Rob Coldstream apparently believes that shooting the fallen pop-star would be a waste of bullets however, so in the programme, he will be hanged – Nice.

“High-profile crimes against children often prompt calls for the death penalty,” said Channel 4’s head of documentaries Hamish Mykura. “This drama confronts the public with what many say they want”.
