American Gavin and Stacey Is ‘Go’!

Fluffy BBC drama Gavin and Stacey is to be remade by the US network ABC for our American friends.

It’s next in a line of Blighty remakes, following Queer As Folk, Life on Mars and most recently, Skins.

The show, about an English boy and Welsh girl falling in love over the phone, was written by James Corden and Ruth Jones and has won a clutch of awards on this side of the pond.

ABC has ordered a pilot of the show which will be made by BBC’s commercial arm BBC Worldwide, and will be written by “Notes from the Underbelly? scribe Stacy Traub, and Hayes Jackson of “According to Jim? fame.

Please please please let it be called Wayne and Betty-Lou…
