Scary Spice Mel B and Lily Allen’s dad Keith have signed up to appear in a new ITV1 series called 7 Days on the Breadline.

They will be joined by What Not To Wear clotheshorse and reality TV fixture and sometime rugby player Austin Healey as they sample a taste of life for families living on low incomes.

Over seven days, they will join various households and try to cope with the varying budgets each family has. They will engage with common issues important to residents, like community cohesion, and identity.

Co-executive producer Phil Edgar-Jones said of the series: “It’s only by experiencing the budget and lifestyle of someone on a low income that you can truly understand the challenges that many people face every single day.”

Writing on her Twitter, former Mel B said: “It maybe raining in leeds but I still love it!! Started filming my tv show and it’s very very interesting to say the least!?
