Eastenders Gets Shiny New Titles & Song

Today the Beeb revealed their new titles for their flagship soap Eastenders.

The camera starts from the glistening water of the Thames and pulls upwards through the clouds to to reveal a birdseye view of London. Then the title appears in a 3D fashion. Oooooh.

The makers of this are probably really pleased with themselves.

Well whoever you are, wipe that smug off your face right now. It’s not big and it’s not clever.

We barely paid attention to the old titles and there wasn’t any real need to change them. Fair dos if you want to rework them entirely, but all you did was steal something from Google Earth and add some more strings to the music.

Oh well done you.

This is the kind of thing that stopped us leaving monkeys in the OTB office; they wrote pointless suggestions like this on our Big Idea wipe board.

Somehow when Coronation Street and The Bill changed their titles, we didn’t feel a spark of anger about it.

Apparently there’s something about trying to make London look shinier than it is that really grates our grits.
