Last week we watched Justin Lee Collins in an attempt to make it as a Mexican wrestler for his Sky1 show (read our review here), and he could just about hold his own. Sort of.

In this week’s programme, in a series that sees the hairy sex symbol try his hand at a range of unusual careers, JLC auditions for a role in Chicago for a taste of life in the West End, and today The Sun reports that the bosses of the stage show were so impressed with his try-out that they’ve offered him the part for an eight-week stretch.

The thrilled Bristolian said yesterday: “It’s a triumph. It was one of the best working experiences of my life… The producers in America asked me to go back and do a full run. I’d do it in a heartbeat but I need to clear some space.?

He continued: “They do eight shows a week and I would have to commit to doing a minimum of eight weeks… But if they still want me next year I’ll do it.”

He was offered the role he auditioned for – Amos Hart, the downtrodden husband of showgirl Roxie. In the show the character has a song called Mr. Cellophane, in which he laments people “can look right through me?.

For a sneak preview of JLC trading his West Country burr for American twang, watch the show at 9 on Sky1 tonight.
