ITV has confirmed that for this year’s series of X Factor the results show will be moved to Sundays, with a live face-off for the two contestants with the fewest votes.

Sound familiar?

The news comes shortly after the BBC confirmed they would be axing their Sunday live show of Strictly Come Dancing.

X Factor’s Saturday will remain the contestants’ musical showcase, with live performances before s studio audience. But the results show will be moved from later on the Saturday night to Sunday night.

ITV director of entertainment and comedy Elaine Bedell said: “The new Sunday results show will be a fantastic way of building excitement and anticipation across two nights of live television and with performances from some extra special guest stars The X Factor will now be an event spectacular across the whole weekend.?

She added that the show “just keeps getting bigger and better?, and the shift would give viewers “more of what they want?.
