Classical actor Charles Dance has hit out at TV bosses after they pushed his new programme back in order to show a Paris Hilton reality show.

The actor who starred in Gosford Park and Bleak House, was angered by the ITV bosses who delayed his show, Trinity, to make for more insipid TV stupidity in the shape of Paris Hilton’s British Best Friend.

Dance ranted, ‘We’re putting too much energy into junk and reality television. This show was going to be shown in January or February. But they shelved it until September to put you know what in its place? Paris Hilton’s British Best Friend, which is possibly the most execrable piece of television I’ve ever seen in my life. God knows what the ratings were. It’s a piece of television for airheads, starring an airhead’

Saucer of milk, table two.

The actor also went on to criticise the falling standards of television, ‘TV drama is hanging in there, but we’re continually being asked to do things for less money and in less time – because people are trying to hang on to their profit margins, I guess.’

He’s only saying what we’re all thinking. Bravo sir, bravo.
