Simpsons Presidential Campaign

Barack Obama is being lined up to accept another prestigious responsibility – to be the first US president in office to appear on The Simpsons.

So far producers James L. Brooks and Al Jean have only been able to persuade former Presidents to appear on the show, after the end of their tenure, as with Bill Clinton and George W. Bush Snr. However, the pair are hoping that Obama’s huge fan-base will persuade him to get involved.

Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair was the first politician still in office to appear on the show in 2003 and carried on his comedy career with his infamous Comic Relief appearance alongside Catherine Tate.

The producers also hope to send up the younger George W. Bush. But we at OntheBox wonder if Dubya is really stupid enough to agree to being mocked on national television? Well, we suppose with two terms in office, it’s nothing he hasn’t been through before.
