Norton feeling the – hic – Eurovision spirit(s)
Graham Norton, who is taking over the reigns as English commentator at the Eurovision Song Contest, has admitted that he is planning to get as horrifically drunk as possible.
Well, you’d have to wouldn’t you? We’re just surprised Cowell and Co haven’t resorted to it yet – maybe that’s what’s in those Coca-Cola cups on American Idol?
Norton replaces Terry Wogan after 35 years of tippled dedication, and feels it’s only right to carry on the Eurovision legacy of increasingly slurry, bitter and sardonic commentary as our representative inches ever faster to the now inavoidable ‘Nil Point’.
“I can’t possibly fill his shoes because he made it such an amazing job. I’ll probably be very quiet. You’ll just hear some vodka slurping in the background while people sing.”
Is it wrong that we here at OTB are more excited by Norton’s debut than our country’s entry, Jade…. erm…. that one off that BBC1 Andrew Lloyd Webber horror show.
It was supposed to be horror. Wasn’t it?
