Channel 4, Friday 24th Oct, 9pm Alert me

It may take some planning to find out and remember to buy the ingredients needed to participate in Gordon Ramsay’s Cookalong, but with a little time and investment the result should be fu**ing brilliant, yes?!

Ok, so the average viewer may not have the time, desire or money to go out and buy the 34 different ingredients, including a full kilogram of salmon, needed to complete the menu for the first show of the new series of Cookalong, but done right the programme gives the opportunity to work with the twelve Michelin star bearing super-chef. You can even give Gordon some abuse back without running the risk of offending an irate chef with a meat cleaver, and he can’t scream at you if you fumble your crumble.

The Cookalong formula is original, participatory, and is more likely to get Britain cooking than Jamie Oliver’s pathetic “Ministry of Food?. Ramsay has training videos on the Channel 4 website that teach new cooking and preparation techniques- proper ‘teach a man to fish’ stuff here…

If Gordon Ramsay and home-cooking gets your taste-buds going, then this could be a great Friday night in. If not, order a takeaway and watch something else!
